Chinatown, London
The Chinese community in London has a long and rich history dating back to the 18th century when Chinese sailors first came over with the East India company and started settling in Limehouse in London's East End.
In 1914, at least 30 Chinese businesses were operating in the area including shops, cafes and laundries but following widespread damage during the second World War they began to head west to present day Chinatown in Soho.
British soldiers returning from the Far East after the Second World War helped to establish the area having developed a taste for Chinese food.
Today, the area is thriving. Visitors can enjoy great food with almost 100 restaurants to choose from, visit various shops, supermarkets and bakeries or listen to some great music from the many buskers in the area.
You may also get caught up with the local Hare Krishna troupe adding another layer of colour and sound as they sing and dance their way through the area.
